Dedication

The Mi'kmaq People of Newfoundland:  A Celebration is dedicated to the memory of Mi'kmaq women and men who have made important contributions to the development of our communities and the advancement of our people.  The Federation of Newfoundland Indians would like to publicly honour three people:  Matthew "Mattie" Mitchell, Mary Webb and Chief Larry Jeddore.

The following presentation relates both historical and present day information about Newfoundland’s Mi’kmaq people. It will give listeners an inside look at the struggles that faced the Mi’kmaq throughout history and even today as the Federation of Newfoundland Indians strives to gain status recognition for its members under the terms of Canada’s Indian Act.
