Dedication
The Mi'kmaq People of Newfoundland: A Celebration is dedicated to the
memory of Mi'kmaq women and men who have made important contributions to the
development of our communities and the advancement of our people. The
Federation of Newfoundland Indians would like to publicly honour three people:
Matthew "Mattie" Mitchell, Mary Webb and Chief Larry Jeddore.
Storyboard
The following presentation relates both historical and
present day information about Newfoundland’s Mi’kmaq people. It will give
listeners an inside look at the struggles that faced the Mi’kmaq throughout
history and even today as the Federation of Newfoundland Indians strives to gain
status recognition for its members under the terms of Canada’s Indian Act.
