Hello, I am hopeful that someone may have some information on my great grand mother, Francis Gallant. She married Eugene Gallant and is the mother of Mary Alice Bourgeois (Mary married Joseph Benoit). I am at a stand still and can't seem to get beyond Francis. She and Eugene lived in the St. George's Bay area in the late 1800's. She passed over before 1911 as the census has Eugene listed as a widower... My family was an active part of FNI when it formed in 1972, We where patted on the back for comming forward so strong and pushing our Abouriginal Roots. They came and camped in our yard so they could learn of us, They took my father (Peter Oliver) to their homes so that they could learn more about the Mi`kMaq. But today they say they do not recognize my family as being Mi`kMaq. And now they are all jumping on the coat tails of a Deceased Mi`kMaq Named (Oliver Beniot) lookig for recognition them selves!, Because the late(Oliver Beniot) has strong Mi`kMaq ties! HOW IRONIC. Well (Oliver Beniot) had a son named (John Edward Beniot) and (John Edward Beniot) had a daughter named ( Elsie Recinicus Beniot ) and (Elsie Recinicus Beniot) had a son named ( Charlie Oliver) I guess you can see where i am going with this. Well It`s all food for tought is it not!

Hi, I was searching the internet for information on Benoit's Cove and found this site. My grandfather was a White from Benoit's Cove and I am looking for information on my family. Can someone out there help me with some information. His name was Alfred White and he was born in February of 1899 I believe . He left NFLD for Cape Breton where he settled in Glace Bay and married.
