Youth Activities:

During the summer of 2004, four Aboriginal Youth
representing the nine band areas of the Federation of Newfoundland Indians
interviewed Elders, Youth, and members of the communities to ultimately put
together a collage of materials, which would be crafted into a booklet.
These books gave a wide variety of information on Mi’kmaq history, culture,
and traditions.
The youth who were employed by HRSDC’s Summer Career
Placement program were Shawn Paul, Byron Milley (Central), Jenelle Duval and
Neill Snow (Western). In addition to their research and gathering of
information for the booklets, the youth also organized a Cultural Awareness
Day in the band areas, where they gave the community a day filled with
activities to teach them about the Mi’kmaq culture.
The youth in Glenwood have also actively taken part in
various leadership workshops, and committee meetings held by the FNI Youth
Program.
