Welcome to the Mi’kmaq Celebrations Website. This website was created for the Mi’kmaq people of Newfoundland and Labrador to celebrate our distinctive culture as an Aboriginal people. The Newfoundland Mi’kmaq claim a special historical bond with their home on this island, a bond built by generations of men and women who traveled the Newfoundland interior and harvested the wild foods of the land, rivers and oceans.

The presence of Newfoundland’s Mi’kmaq people has been seen through portraits, oral history accounts and artifacts. This website illustrates some of this wonderful history through photographs, writings and recorded information collected throughout the course of its design. It will also address the current situation of the Mi’kmaq people and their efforts to keep this wonderful history alive in our province.
